The SRP African American Cultural Committee Employee Resource Group recently hosted an event honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The program featured Rev. Dr. Charl McRae, who spoke about the power of collective strength and shared purpose in building thriving communities.

In honor of Veterans Day, we heard from Joseph Brett, a guest speaker during a recent employee event hosted by SRPVets, an SRP Employee Resource Group. “Veterans Day is a reminder of the Code of the Brotherhood and Sisterhood. All veterans leave the security and safety of home to be born again as heroes, who turn their lives over to a cause greater than self.”

National Navajo Code Talkers Day commemorates the invaluable contributions of Native American code talkers who served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. To honor their legacy, the SRP Employee Resource Groups Native Americans Together in Vision and Empowerment (N.A.T.I.V.E.) and SRPVets host a special annual event where employees gather to hear impactful reflections on their service and sacrifices. Guest speaker Sen. Teresa Hatathlie will share her family's contribution to the Code Talker legacy. “Nihizaad éí nihinaage'; Nihisiláołsooí ałdó'; áko bahane' doo didínóoltłóoł da. Our language is our weapon; so are our veterans; therefore, their story will be unwaveringly carried on.”
SRPVets, an Employee Resource Group, held its annual Memorial Day luncheon for our employees to honor the military members who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country. "For me, every day is Memorial Day. Every day is a day I remember the sacrifices made by American heroes, because with every beat of my heart, I know that I am alive and free today, because of the sacrifices they made during the Korean War. Thus, it has become my passion to honor and make known the American heroes and the history of the Korean War as my expression of gratitude for their immeasurable courage and sacrifices." — Susan Kee, Korean War historian
