Sartorius’ Chief Financial Officer Rainer Lehmann will step down from his position by the end of October 2023 to pursue a new opportunity outside the company. The Supervisory Board of Sartorius AG has initiated a search process to identify a successor to Rainer Lehmann and to ensure a seamless transition. “Rainer Lehmann has elevated our finance organization and contributed significantly to the strategic and operational development of Sartorius,” said Dr. Lothar Kappich, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Sartorius AG. First quarter 2023 characterized by normalization of demand After the Covid-19-related business and inventory buildup by customers had triggered strong additional growth momentum in previous years, demand normalization at the life science group Sartorius continued throughout the first quarter of 2023, as expected, and led to a decline in sales revenue and earnings in the first three months of the year. Sartorius, through its French listed subgroup Sartorius Stedim Biotech, has signed an agreement to acquire Polyplus for approximately 2.4 billion euros. Polyplus, with around 270 employees, develops and produces #transfection as well as other DNA/RNA delivery reagents and plasmid DNA in high quality and GMP grade. These are key components in the production of viral vectors used in cell and gene therapies and other advanced medicinal therapeutic products. The proposed transaction is subject to customary conditions and expected to close during the third quarter of 2023.
Alexandra Gatzemeyer joins Executive Board of Sartorius to lead the Lab Products & Services division At today’s meeting, the Supervisory Board of Sartorius AG appointed Alexandra Gatzemeyer, Ph.D., as Member of the Executive Board, effective May 1, 2023. From June 16, 2023, Alexandra Gatzemeyer will succeed Gerry Mackay, Board Member and Head of the Lab Products & Services division, who will hand over duties in the course of May and June to ensure a smooth transition at the helm of this division. After stepping down as Executive Board member as of June 16, 2023, Gerry Mackay will continue to support Sartorius in various cross-divisional tasks and initiatives.
