Sartorius will pay a total of around 20 million euros in special bonuses to employees in appreciation of their substantial commitment and special achievements in 2021. “The second exceptional year under pandemic conditions is coming to a close. The massively increased demand for our innovative solutions that are used in the development and production of vaccines and medicines has been challenging for our employees. They have gone the extra mile, or rather many extra miles, this year to ensure that we can reliably supply our customers with much needed products, and we would like to thank them very much for their efforts. As recognition for and appreciation of their work, Sartorius will again pay a special bonus to all employees,” said Sartorius Executive Board Chairman and CEO Joachim Kreuzburg.
Sartorius officially celebrated the opening of its Cell Culture Technology Center in Ulm. The site in southern Germany features special laboratories designed to develop cell lines and optimize cell culture media. Located at Science Park III, a major hub for research and scientific discovery in close proximity to many of Germany’s top universities, the facility houses approximately 120 Sartorius employees on 65,000 square feet. Sartorius aims to expand further and is now offering a variety of positions at the site. The Mayor of Ulm, Gunter Czisch, and the President of the University of Ulm, Prof. Michael Weber, joined the opening ceremony that was held virtually due to the pandemic. Kanin Sutthasinwong, a former Penn State University biotechnology student, gained hands-on experience at the university's Sartorius Fermentation Gallery. “This immediately transferred to my new career,” he recalls. Today, Kanin is an Associate Engineer in the Product Development for Cell Culture Technologies at Sartorius' North American headquarters in Bohemia, NY. The partnership of Sartorius and Penn State University started in 2018 with the Fermentation Gallery and reached a new level of impact with the creation of the Sartorius Cell Culture Facility earlier this year.
