"Once they see me doing it, it feels more possible." Meet Alissa Osburn, an SCE troubleman field supervisor. Alissa's journey from meter reader to leader is inspiring others to take on new challenges. And for Alissa, the passion started right at home – her dad was a power plant operator at SCE, and stories about the electric grid with his lineworker family friends were regular dinner table talk. At SCE, we're proud to support and empower our team members in their career growth.
Thank you, SCE Forestry team. The team’s collaborative efforts with CAL FIRE and local Fire Safe Councils paid off in battling the 60,000-acre Garnet Fire in the Sierra Nevada. The Lost Bluff Fuel Break (a section of land where vegetation and combustible material have been removed) helped slow the fire, protecting Shaver Lake, the Dinkey Creek community and iconic sequoias. Camp Edison also served as a base until the blaze was contained on Sept. 12. The site provided crews with a place to rest, shower and refill engines using lake water. Our team also supported firefighting efforts by supplying maps and equipment, including bulldozers, to help crews access roads and critical forest areas.

The women who work and make SCE better every day are dynamic individuals. On example is Liz Seelman. Seelman, Southern California Edison’s principal manager of Local Public Affairs, recently became the second woman to be inducted into the Georgetown Athletic Hall of Fame for soccer. It all started with watching her brother’s soccer practice at 8 years old, and her thinking: “I can totally do that.” #InternationalWomensDay #WomensHistoryMonth #InspireInclusion
