Your future duties and responsibilities

CGI is looking for a highly skilled Python Backend Developer with 5+ years of experience in designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, and AWS services, with a strong understanding of cloud-native application development, asynchronous programming, and production-grade API design.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable backend solutions while following software engineering best practices.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in Python backend development.
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience with FastAPI in enterprise or production environments.
Strong understanding of REST API design principles and API security best practices.
Hands-on experience with Pydantic, dependency injection, middleware, and asynchronous programming.
Strong knowledge of authentication and authorization using JWT and OAuth2.
Experience building production-ready APIs with robust exception handling, logging, pagination, validation, and rate limiting.
Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including:
Database schema design
Indexing strategies
Query optimization
EXPLAIN ANALYZE
Common Table Expressions (CTEs)
Window functions
Transaction isolation levels
Connection pooling
Hands-on experience with SQLAlchemy (Async SQLAlchemy preferred).
Experience managing database schema changes using Alembic.

AWS Lambda
AWS Step Functions
AWS Glue
Amazon CloudWatch

The candidate should have practical experience designing and implementing event-driven, serverless, and cloud-native applications on AWS.
