Pros
It's an alright starting salary for an entry level job in buying in New York & WFH Fridays
Cons
As a new hire out of college, I think the experience of working here is really russian roulette. As an assistant buyer, you have no say in what department you work for, and there's basically no opportunity to move into a desired department. I went to fashion school and was placed in a random accessories department. Like, FIT graduates are buying automotive accessories lol.
The worst part and what I think is the fatal flaw of working here is that there's no interview process for your team placement. So even if you are a good employee, smart, and contribute a lot, you just may or may not vibe or align with your manager which absolutely determines your day today experience in the office, your opportunity for promotion, and your overall standing. I had a manager who was horrible, and I know as an employee I was doing a good job, but was only ever constantly berated. There's a corporate culture of always improving and learning, which is generally a good philosophy, but the way it materializes is essentially constant criticism and no reward for anything. HR sucks.
