Sainsbury’s is a great entry-level company to start your career, especially if you are building up your skills. The hiring process is accessible, and it provides steady employment.

Over time, the environment can become stressful. There is a lack of recognition for hard work; if you are highly skilled and efficient, you are often given extra tasks without extra pay or recognition, while others doing less earn the same. Management support can also be lacking when things get tough.

No prior experience needed - I got this job when I turned 17 so it was the first job I had, and they don't really ask for any previous experience which is great Easy hiring process - I got the job offer the same day I did the interview, all in all the entire application/hiring process took around 2 weeks Great team - This might vary depending on your department and store but I loved working with my colleagues and got along with them well

Fixed hours - I only worked 12 hours, 3 days a week (4 hours each day) and it was easy for me to balance work and sixth form so the fixed hours weren't a huge issue for me (I also only worked Fridays and weekends anyway) but I guess if you work more hours, it'll be a problem as there's a lack of flexibility.

Recruitment process is appalling for internal colleagues - they already know who to put in to a store and make everyone else jumps through hoops with no luck. Just so they stay within process

If anything, maybe free food from the canteen. Another pro was going home.

Awful recruitment process done on a pad and very short time with a tutor 'on the road'. Management could not care less about you which is evident from high staff turnover and dozens of other reviews. The vans are tracked and you get into trouble if you brake too sharply and do not drive to their exact standards. Some of the routes are dangerous in my opinion when taking a heavy loaded van out, and the company only care about getting the delivery done. Some rural spots are impossible to find and you have to navigate narrow tracks and places you would not even take a car. Some customers were obnoxious and lazy though most were nice. It is easy to get behind on deliveries if there are traffic issues or, as stated, the drop is hard to find. This caused me a lot of stress and tension, which is not worth the wage they offer. I retired from a long career in the emergency services straight into this job and lasted 5 weeks, I am surprised I lasted that long. Never again.

Strong Product Management culture and supportive environment. Teams are willing to support eachother and there's continual improvement for staff and the tech organisation to get more effective.

The pay for the role seniority is shockingly low. People only get decent pay when they join the business as a new hire and negotiate for it, and even then it's low by any tech standards. Worse, if you work your way up the organisation - you are stuck at low salary bands as they don't reward loyalty. So get the learnings, and then get out.
