I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at 1Password in May 2024
Interview
The interview process consisted of about 7 interviews, ranging from 30 to 60 minutes in length. I made it all the way to the final round interview, but was not extended an offer. The reason shared with me by the hiring team was that management experience was a focus for the role. Each interview discussed extensively on my experience, so this reasoning was the primary contributor to my negative experience as my resume and work experience which included management roles were clear throughout the interview process.
The interview process consists of four interviews that are conducted with a peer manager or engineer from a team you would collaborate with. In addition to these interviews you perform an initial phone screen, hiring manager interview, and an interview with the HR business partner you would be working with. This brings the whole interview process to 7 interviews. From start to finish my interview process took about 7 weeks, and at times I did not know when the next step would commence. The longest I went without hearing from the interview team was about a week, so that part of the process was pretty standard.
Overall the talent team did a good job orchestrating the interview process. Each interview was scheduled a few days in advance, and before each interview I got a reminder email. Feedback I would give to the hiring team is to remove candidates that do not have the desired experience for the role prior to the final round of interviews. I also would recommend revamping the interview process email to include phone screens, hiring manager interviews, and HR BP interviews so that candidates have the right expectations.

Question 1
Pick an experience/project from your resume as a case study that you will present to the interviewer.

Interview
I didn't make it past the first interview. They use a third party software to record you so the interviewer can "focus on the candidate". In first interview, interviewer explained that she'd turn her camera off at some point because she wouldn't be looking at me anyway since she'd be taking notes on her other monitor and I'd just be staring at her profile. She turned her camera off as she started to ask the very first question. I felt like they wanted a robot, not a human. What's the point of that third party software if you're still not going to treat me as a human.

Interview
Recruiter screen with behavioral questions, HM screen, then the virtual onsite with 4 rounds of interviews with directors & engineers. The recruiter is very clear about each interview focus to help you prepare as best as possible.

Interview
45 minute HR screen chatting about the position, the company, your background. No feedback as to why you didn't proceed to the next round, which (to be fair) is how "everyone" does it; providing actual feedback to candidates would be an easy win to raise the bar.
