I was recommended for this program as the result of a college career fair and was promptly contacted for a phone interview. The discussion went very well and I was informed that I was a guaranteed candidate for the formal final round interviews and did not need to interview in person, as was typical. I decided to go anyway to learn about the company where I spoke with the coordinator for the program and several current participants - it was very informal and I was instructed that it was primarily for my benefit. After not hearing anything more specific about the dates for the final interview, which I was told to keep free, I contacted them again and was told that they had changed their minds.
In summary, they rejected me for a lack of formality during discussions where I was told to ask questions and be casual. Additionally they demonstrated a complete lack of consideration for my time. While it was not the right job for me, I caution to make sure to promote both your technical intelligence and practical know-how during all phases of the interview process.
