I met by phone with a recruiter initially and an interview with the hiring manager by video was set up shortly after. The video meeting seemed to go well. About two weeks afterwards I was invited to an onsite interview to meet with the team. This lasted for longer than the scheduled time so I believed it seemed to be progressing well. Two weeks passed and I heard nothing back. The Workday portal with my application just said “interviewing”. I emailed the recruiter and got a short one line reply that they were still interviewing candidates and would meet afterwards to decide. Two more weeks go by and nothing. Now a month after the in person meetings I emailed the recruiter once again and after all my efforts including taking time off from my current job to go meet with the team - I received an auto bot reply that “other candidates more qualified” were selected. The recruiter couldn’t even take a few minutes to reply with a personal email. I currently work for a major company over twice the size of Abbott but was not handled so thoughtlessly as I was with Abbott when I joined them nearly 8 years ago. This is a very unprofessional way to handle recruitment and I will never consider this organization as a prospective employer again. Maybe this was just limited to this talent rep and me and is not representative of the company as a whole but it’s something I suggest prospective candidates keep in mind. Especially if interviewing with multiple prospects.
