I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Adlumin in Dec 2021
Interview
Had two interviews discussing technical ability and work culture. The interview was pretty casual and the interviewer was friendly. We discussed common software scenarios and how I would solve them as well as working within a team.

Question 1
Q: How would you solve the issue of a long running process holding up a page from loading?

Interview
I had an interview with a recruiter - the camera was off. It definitely could have been a phone interview. They did mention that I could turn my camera off but would have to keep it on if I got a second interview. On the second interview the manager did not have his camera on but I kept mine on. It was a bit uncomfortable as it felt like I was communicating with a disembodied voice. The manager kept emphasizing that they were looking for a seasoned ROR veteran.

Interview
It's generally considered unprofessional for an interviewer to focus solely on quizzing or attempting to stump a candidate, especially in a non-technical interview.
During my interview, it became apparent from the initial questions that the interviewer was unfamiliar with my background, previous role, and portfolio. They never asked about my resume or portfolio but focused instead on quiz questions, which I found extremely off-putting. The manner in which these questions were asked was aggressive and unrelenting even after I told the interviewer several times on the call that I don't think this role was a good fit for me.
Adlumin should be more mindful of the candidate experience during interviews. Ensuring that interviewers are familiar with a candidate's background before the call and conducting a balanced evaluation would greatly improve the process.
