Senior Object Oriented Programmer Analyst Interview

      11 Dec 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Oct 2016

      Interview

A recruiter called me and set up a phone interview a few days later. I have only a couple of years experience at a professional and I dont know why they selected me for an interview. One of the group's technical lead gave me a call and it was mostly about Java. He covered almost all the concepts in core java. All the questions were good and answers were expected with relevant real time examples. I feel that only a guy who really has some experience in Object Oriented Programming could answer those. After that he jumped onto data bases and web services. The interviewer tried to help me to deduce the answers when ever I got confused. The interview was supposed to be 1 hour and it went on for about 80-90 minutes. A few days later, they invited me for an onsite interview for a couple of hours. All expenses paid for the trip including flight charges, lunch etc.. I was early at their office and the hiring manager took me out for lunch. It was a nice conversation with him both technical and behavioral. After that I met two technical leads(a panel interview for about an hour). A little bit more advanced questions than in the phone interview like 1. Explain how you build web application(full flow) using any frame work 2. Explain JMS(Java Messaging Service). Topic and Queue 3. Explain SOAP webservices including each component in WSDL .. and follow up questions on your answers and many more It all went well until the end when they asked me to explained Encapsulation. I explained Access modifiers instead which is not right and the interviewer gave me hints to explain starting with a POJO but I did not pick it up. After this round it was with 3 hiring managers who went through my resume and asked few relevant technical questions and behavioral questions for an hour and that is it. It has been more than 45 days and I was still waiting for the response. I do not expect to be selected for the job but it was a nice experience.
