I had interviews for two different Staff Assistant I postings, they were for different departments. One of the interviews was in person. I arrived 10 minutes early and checked in, but the receptionist never told them I was there. An hour later the security guard saw me still waiting and checked with the people doing the interviews. They thought I got there late, but the security guard was nice and let them know I had actually been early. The interview was weird, they seemed bothered by it. When it was my turn to ask questions they acted like they had somewhere to be. When I asked when they needed to wrap it up they said, "We have all day." It was very odd. The other interview was a video call. They were nicer. The questions were more what you'd expect. Things like: Tell us about a time when you had a conflict with a co-worker, how did you resolve it? How do you handle prioritizing tasks? Where do you see yourself in 5years? It went well, but from what they were saying I got the impression they wanted someone who will cover hours when the rest of the team needs to take time off for family stuff. Another weird thing was during both interviews they asked if I was currently working. My resume and online application showed an end date at my most recent job. I'm not sure if they don't look at that information or if they just weren't paying attention.
