      Flight Attendant Interview

      25 Jan 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Dallas, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at American Airlines (Dallas, TX) in Jan 2024

      Interview

I completed an application (can’t recall what month). Did a Virtual Interview with was about 30 people where they asked us all different situational questions. STAR format was not required during this interview. But what I found odd was you heard and saw the recruiters voice and a picture, however, we had to have our cameras on but we couldn’t see each other or them (the recruiters ) and it was very impersonal! So I just smiled the entire time and did natural reactions to that other interviewer’s stories. So that advanced me forward to the F2F. I had to reschedule due to personal reasons but eventually I was scheduled for my F2F in Dallas, TX. So the day started at 9am- I arrived earlier than the check-in time (just to make sure I was on point). Honorable mention: there were people who arrived late and right on time (with excuses of course). They did not get turned around (as they had previously mentioned in the email). I think it’s quite rude that if people arrive late, it slows us down in the process so we have to wait for them to catch up in the process but let me continue…. because of this they were behind as they have mentioned to us during the day. You start the day by doing a writing exercise answering a question regarding a situation that’s provided and you have the number the options that in how you would best respond to in order & also writing why you selected your answer. When everyone is completed, you move on to a group activity, which was actually a bit frustrating due to a lot of people not listening or properly communicating but I digress teamwork is challenging and that’s part of it for my team do good, and we successfully completed the challenge. We then watched a video and all along in between each activity you have a flight attendant who is hyping you up selling on the company and why you’re so special. Then you move onto the interview panel where you do two different rounds of pulling a car with random questions, and you have to provide a star format answer that also included different recruiters. They kept reiterating that entire day. Don’t give up if you don’t give get it keep trying and don’t be discouraged. One flight attendant recruiter stated he had been with the company for over a decade however, when he was applying. He applied over 14 times. I think that’s a bit ridiculous! After the interview panel is completed those who did not do well got called out in two different groups. We had about four tables that included about 8 to 10 individuals so you do the math. They definitely try to not humiliate anyone by deceiving people and lying, stating that they were walking everyone out to the shuttles just like they bought us and in groups because of noise concerns , so I do respect that aspect but anyone who did their research knows that if you get dismissed within the first two groups that you’re pretty much going home with no CJ O! Even if they switched it up, it’s still embarrassing! I however made it to the final interview with a recruiter or higher manager, or whatever she was. Once I got in the room, she started asking me basic questions due to my experience, and I just felt the energy shift on her part, and although I gave great responses, I just feel like at the end she didn’t offer me a CJ. She just asked if I would be willing to be located at a base and those type of questions which I said yes to all of them she then said at the end that she would have to partner with the recruitment team and notify me within 5 to 7 business days which at that point, I know I did not get it , I guess the part this brother difficult for me to wrap my brain around is if you make it past a virtual interview and application three interviews all the way to the face-to-face is literally up to the last recruiter to make that decision?! If you’ve made it that far, I would just think that they would consider all the different levels and people and recruiters that you’ve interacted with observed you and your behavior throughout the day and challenge that one person‘s decision , because clearly multiple individual saw something that they loved! I have experience I’m not new to this at all I care about people and the recruiter actually the very last one that I’m referring to had no personality and I don’t know I don’t like making everything about race, but The whole process was very easy to navigate just due to the work. It was very organized however, it felt like I was in the military the way they act you would think they Delta I don’t expect to get that email offering me a CJO and at this point, I’m moving on with my life .
