      Sales Job Interview

      12 Dec 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at American Income Life in Apr 2016

      Interview

The positions was advertised as an accounting job, but it turned out to be a sales job. They perform a initial interview, they won't tell you what the job credentials are, and then they make it sound like your an amazing candidate, and they want to interview you immediatly with their regional manager. It is all a big sham..

      Question 1

What do you know about out company

      Application

I interviewed at American Income Life (New York, NY)

      Interview

Somehow they got my phone number and reached out about a job. I replied after verifying that the company was at least, to some degree, legitimate. I noticed that reviews for their products were pretty low which made more more suspicious. From there they got me to answer a whole bunch of questions on forms. Asked me a few as well. Oddly enough they know very well that they look like a scam (asked me if I thought it was one). They then went through a presentation after a brief interview that focused on sales and not on the product quality at all. While I believe the masks are oversold as a solution to Covid, the management encouraged everyone in a closed off meeting room to remove their masks when there were 16 people in the room. Purely a commission based sales job for people who feel more comfortable preying on the vulnerable. I would argue that they targeted the vulnerable for their candidate search as well. Don't be fooled by the fact that they are listed and publicly traded. It's pretty much and MLM scheme like Herbalife. Don't let the nice offices fool you either, it felt like it was all a charade. In the end I declined to be contacted further, especially after they completely slipped out on the opportunity to question the management about the opportunity.
