      Senior Staff Firmware Engineer Interview

      9 Aug 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Jose, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at BD (San Jose, CA) in Jun 2018

      Interview

I was told the interview would be 5 hours on-site and asked to break it up over 2 days. They were OK with that. After the first 2.5 hr. session (which went very well as far as I could tell) I was told they would contact me to schedule the second round (the remaining 2.5.hrs). I assumed this would be within a couple of working days. After a week I contacted HR and was told that the remaining interviewers were out on vacation and they would have to call me - when they returned - to schedule another session. After not hearing anything for another 2 weeks I contacted them again and asked them whether they wanted to be known for a policy of not letting applicants know the status of their candidacy, especially when they have spent time and effort in going to an onsite interview, and also when they have directly requested an update on this status. Was their procedure to just ignore the candidate and hope that they'll take the hint and go away? I received no response. Bottom line : this policy doesn't cast a favorable light on a healthcare-product company's image as being either humanistic or responsive. All I wanted was a 'yes' or a 'no'.

      Question 1

Typical coding questions : reverse a linked list, most efficient way of reversing bit order of a given integer, etc. Questions about my embedded design experience.
