      Researcher Interview

      26 Oct 2009
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Bose in Jun 2007

      Interview

I submitted my application online and It took about a week for them to call me and to get the in person interview. I was only interviewed by 1 person and thought it went fine. I called the recruiter a few days after to check on the status of the job and it took them about a month to get back to me to tell me I did not get it.

      Research Interview

      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bose (Framingham, MA) in May 2012

      Interview

Overall interview experience consisted of 3 initial phone interviews and 5 in-person 1:1 interviews. The phone interviews were brief, casual, and pleasant. I was given some basic information about the job and the company. Each interviewer asked me a few standard questions about me and my work experience - nothing too difficult. They were kind and seemed enthusiastic about me, my background, and my skillset. So far, so good – a great experience and I was excited about the opportunity. Next, I was invited in for 1:1 interviews. The HR people I communicated with during this stage seemed a little unorganized and made a couple of errors in the information that was communicated, but I can appreciate how busy they must be. Still so far, so good. As for the in-person interviews…my experience was unpleasant overall. I met 1:1 with five people. My interviewers really didn’t tell me much about the job, and what little information I did receive left me confused because I was given contradictory information from different people regarding a specific key job responsibility. Several of the people I met with did not really have any questions for me. They just kind of sat there. It felt a little unwelcoming. It was, therefore, left up to me to try and fill the awkward silence with questions that I had about the job and the company. I was constantly contemplating ending the interviewing process as I knew there wasn’t a good fit. However, I thought that would look bad, so I stuck it out. All in all, one of the more bizarre interviewing experiences I’ve ever had. Despite the fact that I no longer wanted the job after interviewing in-person, I was still very disappointed that there was no follow-up on Bose’s part with a yes/no decision. Between the 3 phone interviews, 5 in-person interviews, and an extensive employment application and background check form that you must complete prior to your interview (plus other back and forth with HR people), I felt a fairly significant amount of time had been invested on both sides. While I understand that people are very busy, a quick form letter email informing me of the outcome would have been perfectly sufficient and much appreciated after all the time and effort that was invested. My experience left me with a negative impression of the organization. Not impressed.

I can't remember - they really didn't ask me very many questions.
