I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Burlington Stores (Amherst, NY) in Sept 2017
Interview
The overall vibe of the store leaves something to be desired. I came in for my interview and told one of the managers I was there for an interview. She briskly told me that I was early and proceeded to talk to the cashiers she was gossiping with. She then said loudly she doesn't do interviews and cackled with the other associates, while simultaneously sizing me up. Then she walked off with them while gossiping about other interviewers. Very unprofessional and awkward. I just stood there until one sympathetic cashier asked if I wanted her to tell another manager I was here for an interview. A few moments later, she escorted me to the back office.
The other manager who had interviewed me was professional enough, but that whole experience gave me a glimpse into how catty the work environment can be. The manager offered me a position there but I decided to decline a few days later. My instincts told me to go to another retail job that was a bit more friendly and professional. The whole experience left a sour taste in my mouth and makes me look at the company a bit differently now.
Very calm and easy-going. Questions they asked How would you handle an angry customer? or Describe a time you went above and beyond for a customer. Tell me about a time you made a mistake and how you corrected it
Super easy and laid back. A few questions were asked and then I got a start date before leaving at the end. Assessments are required and are not fun but easy.
Excellent and very welcoming. I loved how they communicated get sweetly and were very much helpful. The interview lasted for a very short time. The interviewer made me feel very confident.
