      Commercial Manager Interview

      30 Mar 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Butternut Box (London, England) in Dec 2023

      Interview

Quite a long process involving 4 stages - screening interview - task - follow up interview - in person interview Despite it being quite in depth and time consuming the team were quick to respond after each stage. I never had to wait more than a week to get feedback.

      Commercial Manager Interview

      20 Jun 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Butternut Box (London, England) in Jun 2020

      Interview

Unprofessional dishonest- Promoting internal candidates and wasting other people's time. Was promised a technical test but nobody reached out at end of interview and 3 days later got rejection email. If you do not hire international candidates then why bother interviewing them just to promote internal candidates shows about culture of the company. My interview questions were also not answered in detail because interviewer was never interested in 10 minute short interview.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about experience, dogs, salary expectations, when are you available to work, any preferences.

      Anonymous employee
      London, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Butternut Box (London, England) in May 2019

      Interview

      1. Phone call (30 mins) - focus on culture and motivation i.e. why Butternut, why the role 2. Written task (4-5 hours) - given a lot of mock data on why customers pause and retention numbers, then asked two questions: i) analyse the data and come up with ideas to improve retention, ii) broad question on how you'd recommend growing revenue (new product / new markets) 3. F2F interview with Hiring Manager (1 hour) and Head of People (30 mins) - review the task submitted, and broad competency-based questions with Hiring Manager, and values-based questions with Head of People 4. F2F interview with Co-Founder (1 hour) and Head of Finance + Head of Sales (1 hour) - combination of competency, motivation, values with the Co-Founder as well as mental arithmetic / problem-solving (nothing too tricky!) and some more specific role-based questions e.g. unit economics with Head of Finance / Head of Sales
