I applied online. I interviewed at CNN (Baltimore, MD) in Nov 2020
Interview
Virtual through hirevue. Feels a bit more personal than others as you see a clip from a hiring manager at the beginning and the end. One question for you to answer (type) about your availability Monday through Sunday and then the rest are the video response. Fairly easy but definitely need to be up to date on your news and issues. Just completed the interview today. Have not received an offer yet. Takes about 2-3 weeks to hear.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
- Why CNN?
- What are your career goals and how does CNN fit into that?
- Read in process; how you stay up to date on news.
- If you had to pitch a story this week, what would you pitch?
- names of the chief justice and four others
The interview process was thorough and fair. Before the interview we were given a fictitious scenario with various sources of information and asked to write an article and then a video interview.
I applied online. I interviewed at CNN (New York, NY) in Mar 2026
Interview
Hireview first, then business coordinator/ manager round. Not sure what's after that (have the business coord round in a few days). The hireview questions were what you would expect them to be. Good idea to tape your first try and hten take a break and restrategize before taping a second one.

Question 1
*Haven't gotten offer (yet) just needed to put an answer for that^
Why do you want to work here, whats your news diet, etc.
The interview process was pretty simple. 1) HireVue 2) A 1:1 meeting with the hiring manager.
Honestly, if you get a call and you get along with the hiring manager you'll get the job.
