      Senior Consultant Interview

      20 Apr 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Capco (London, England)

      Interview

I was contacted by HR in response to my CV placed on a job board with the note that the company were looking for candidates with my skills. Upon being invited to a 'assessment evening', I was not given any flexibility on different time slots and had to wait more than 2 weeks for an interview which was scheduled only on a Tuesday afternoon from 6-8pm. The assessment evening was split into multiple sections including 2 interviews and a case study. I was placed into a small meeting room which was hot and stuffy and went through two 45 min competency based interviews. The first interview was with a HR representative which was thorough and structured and focused on competency, experience and skills. After the first interview, I was left alone in the room for 15 minutes before the 2nd interview with a practice lead. This meeting was very unstructured and informal with the interviewer focusing on my experience from 10 years ago and not my most recent experience. This proved to be quite unproductive during the interview. After the interview, I was left in the room for another 10 minutes before being escorted out of the building and told no case study would be taking place given they had no more interviewers to conduct the case study. The manner in which this was executed was quite unprofessional and confusing. The next day I received feedback regarding my interview and told I did not have correct subject matter expertise for the practice they were hiring for although this was clear in my CV to begin with. This left me feeling that Capco requires more efficient screening of candidates and not waste their time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why did you choose Capco? What do you know about Capco? What subject matter expertise in financial services can you contribute to the practice? What is your understanding of the banking industry and major projects currently underway within them?

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your interview experience at Capco. We value your feedback and will certainly take your insights into consideration when implementing changes to the recruitment evening process. In addition to providing a smoother process, we have also chosen to host evening recruitment sessions because candidates have expressed their preference in attending them after work. Further, this convenience provides an opportunity to complete the majority of the interview process in one session rather than returning for three additional meetings. While we try and keep the wait time between interviews at five minutes, there are instances where candidates wish to ask additional questions – or provide us with useful feedback. Our goal is to make this process as robust and comprehensive as possible, so we apologize for the delays that you experienced and will definitely monitor this moving forward.

      Interview

It started with a 30 minutes session with the HR, then a 1hr technical interview and finally a 45 minutes face 2 face interview at the Capco office. Overall I had a really positive experience. The whole process took about 1 month and the technical interview was focused on what actually matters for the role, with no trick questions or curveballs. I especially enjoyed the face-to-face interview because it didn't feel like a typical interview. It was more like a relaxed technical and behavioural conversation you'd have with a colleague, which made it easy to be myself.

      Interview

If you have something to talk about and share, they've got the time to listen and feedback and dig into it. It became clear within the first few minutes that in addition to my technical responses, there was a evaluation on how I responded. Behavioral and technical parts inevitably get wrapped up together; that was my positive experience with everyone I interviewed with at CAPCO.
