      Senior Auditor Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Charles Schwab (Westlake, TX) in Aug 2018

      Interview

I was contacted by their recruiter on linkedin. I wasn't looking for a job but I proceeded with interview because you should always keep your options open. The position she pitched was for staff auditor. My current company is training me to be a senior so I will most likely be promoted to next level in a few months. I told the recruiter I was looking for a senior position so she set me up for the senior role. First phone screen with recruiter was good. They sent me the position and rushed me to apply. Second phone screen was with the senior recruiter and she was condescending. She started off asking four questions. I didn't know which one she wanted me to answer first. I answered as I remember. She was abrasive. She asked what audits I did at my previous company (several years ago) I told her I don't remember them all but I can tell her more with my current one. She wasn't interested. Every internal audit department I worked in have always been staff auditor and senior auditor working together to lead meetings and test. We review each other's work papers as there are several rounds of reviews. I told her that and she asked "so whats the senior for?" her role is to guide me so she can be promoted to manager. If everybody is expected to only do their assigned role, how would anybody ever be promoted? that tells me a lot about culture at CS. She ended the phone interview with setting up another phone screen if hiring manager is interested. I was turned off at that moment because another phone screen? that would be three total. If you have to conduct that many phone screens before calling a candidate in for an in person then your process is inefficient. Too many red flags, I no longer want to proceed with the opportunities here.
