I am highly qualified for this position, and frankly, it is beneath me at this point, but I interviewed anyway. I did an in person and a virtual. The first interview I thought went very well, although was lacking in any legitimate questions. The interviewer commented on my age, which was off-putting. I was told the next steps would be a reference check, and following that, a background test and drug test. No problem. The other interviewer asked me next to nothing, and was completed in under 10 minutes. As someone who has worked in this field for years, I'm embarrassed for them. Interviews should assess someone's competency in several areas. Is this person friendly? How do they deal with a difficult guest? How do they make a special moment for a guest? How do they work with others? Nothing asked in either interview touched on any of these topics. I'm thinking there is discrimination at play here, since I easily meet every requirement. I followed up about the reference check and received no response, so their communication is also very poor. I had a friend that interviewed at the same property a year or two ago, received an offer, quit her current job, and then never heard back about a start date and they basically changed their mind after committing to her. The way this company does their hiring process is embarrassing.
