Easy two-step interview process, first with the Digital Editor and then the Editor in Chief, both of which were over Zoom so I didn't have to commute for the interviews

I was told to come into an interview one morning that week and to prepare by making sure I've read all the morning papers and come up with some ideas. I was interviewed by two editors who were friendly by obviously unimpressed. I was asked to pitch my ideas, but they wanted more than what I had prepared. It was intense and didn't go well. I was never given a call back and not even an email. I emailed to follow up and this was ignored.
