      Baker Interview

      6 Nov 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Greenville, SC
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (Greenville, SC) in Oct 2015

      Interview

I was phoned by the bakery manager to schedule an interview for the next day; when I told him I was unavailable until the following Monday due to other employment obligations, he told me he would call again the next day to work out an interview time. No return call was ever made over the course of five days. By complete luck I showed up exactly on time for my interview that the manager had schedule (and never informed me of) when I went in to follow-up. I was sat down in the food court area and given an interview with the bakery manager and another associate to oversee the interview. I was asked incredibly generic questions and told to give brief answers - more than once I was cut off mid-response because the hiring manager had 'heard enough to answer the question.' After roughly twenty minutes of playing 20 questions, the interview was over. There was zero conversation about my goals with the company, small talk to get to know me as a person or otherwise - strictly questions read directly off of a sheet of paper. Very impersonal. I will suggest to anyone looking to get a job at Costco: lie in your interview to make yourself look good. Honesty will not get you hired if you've ever made a mistake, regardless of how you corrected it.

      Question 1

What is a mistake you have made in the past and how did you correct it.

Easy, fast and interviewer was communicative and easy to understand the questions. Interview not bad as long as you come prepared with experience. Interviewer was on time and took about thirty minutes to do the first interview.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Costco Wholesale (Beaverton, OR) in Oct 2022

      Interview

The Costco interview process typically involves multiple steps. Here’s an overview of what you can expect: 1. **Application Submission**: First, you'll submit an online application through Costco’s careers website. It's important to ensure your resume is clear and tailored to the role you're applying for. 2. **Initial Screening**: After applying, you may be contacted by a recruiter for an initial phone interview or to clarify your application. This interview will generally focus on your background, experience, and why you're interested in working at Costco. 3. **In-Person Interview**: If you pass the screening, you’ll be invited for an in-person interview at the store or warehouse. This may be a one-on-one interview or sometimes a panel interview, depending on the location. - **Questions**: Expect behavioral interview questions like, “Tell me about a time you worked in a team” or “How do you handle customer complaints?” Costco is known for valuing customer service, so questions will likely focus on how you interact with others. - **Skills Assessment**: Depending on the position, you might also be asked to demonstrate certain skills, such as product knowledge or teamwork. 4. **Second Interview (if applicable)**: Some applicants may be invited to a second interview, especially for more specialized or managerial positions. This interview may go more in-depth into your experience and your alignment with Costco’s values and culture. 5. **Job Offer**: If you successfully pass the interviews, you will receive a job offer. Offers may be extended verbally or in writing, and they typically include details about compensation, benefits, and job expectations. 6. **Background Check and Drug Screening**: After accepting the offer, Costco may conduct a background check and drug screening before finalizing the hiring process. The entire process can take a couple of weeks to a month, depending on the specific role and the hiring needs at the time.
