      Patient Care Technician Interview

      15 May 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Liberty, MO
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DaVita (Liberty, MO) in May 2019

      Interview

I applied with DaVita Dialysis as a candidate for a PCT position in Independence Missouri. I was scheduled for a face to face interview which lasted 17 minutes. The next day I received a dismissal of my candidacy. “The team felt you were not suited for a clinical role, but, perhaps an administrative role.” I find this a curious reason since I was not asked one single question about my experience, skills or any clinically related issues at all. I was simply asked five situational questions which were read aloud in a robotic, monotone uninterested tone by each of the three interviewers on the panel. They were as follows; Tell me about a time when: You had to deal with an angry patient/customer Had to tell a colleague they were doing something wrong Made a mistake and had to fix it and how you did so Went above and beyond the parameters of your role. Noticed a dangerous situation and rectified it I arrived for the interview, was left waiting more than15 minutes due to the receptionist not being present. With the missing receptionist, the door to the treatment area was propped open with a trash can leaving the patients to walk through the unprofessional trash/door area by themselves, regardless of their condition. (walkers etc.) I was then called into the conference room and read these canned, non-clinical questions for exactly 17 minutes and then dismissed with “we are interviewing a lot of people for this role”. Since my clinical skills and experience of 27 years were not brought up at all, the more likely reason behind the rejection is blatant age discrimination. I am certain a I have more clinical experience than the three panelists conducting the interview combined, therein, I believe lies the problem. Now that the sting of this case of ageism has lessened, I feel I have dodged a bullet if the interview process is any indication of how DaVita Dialysis runs their day to day business. If you are a female candidate over the age of 45, do not waste your time. They are clearly only interested in applicants in the coveted millennial age group.

      Application

      Interview

Interesting, the interviewer was very enthusiastic and supportive. They really emphasized communicating calmly with coworkers and helping prioritize tasks. It was a very humbling interview, despite how easy-going the interviewer was.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at DaVita (Orlando, FL) in Nov 2025

      Interview

I applied to DaVita even after seeing many negative reviews from current and former employees, hoping my experience would be different. Unfortunately, it confirmed what I had already read. Throughout the hiring process, I tried to be as flexible as possible. After completing the first interview as well as a 1.5-hour job shadow (which gave me the impression I was moving forward), I was told they were selecting another candidate because I “wasn’t flexible to float around to different clinics.” I clearly stated to the manager that I was willing to travel to other clinics if needed. Despite that, This explanation felt inconsistent with what I had communicated from the beginning. The lack of transparency and clear communication made the entire process feel unprofessional and misleading. I invested my time and effort based on expectations they set, only to be given a reason that didn’t align with the facts. If you are considering applying here, I would advise looking into other dialysis companies first.

The interview process was pretty straightforward. Initial recruiter phone call, on-site preview of the clinic and talk/interview with the facility administrator after. Whole process took about a month or so. Recruiter checked in a few times as well.
