It started with a 20 minute introduction where the recruiter touched base with me. On the same day a coordinator reached out to set up a phone interview in three days. On the next day after the phone interview, the recruiter updated with a decision to move forward to onsite and set up a 30min call to go over detailed information regarding the onsite interview the next day emailed earlier in the day. As a pleasant surprise, it did not only introduce the format of the interview, the company's culture, etc., but also included a coupon for trying out DoorDash delivery service. On the same day, my availabilities were communicated to the coordinator, who helped schedule my onsite in one week.
The onsite interview included sessions on coding, design, technical communication, culture plus lunch discussion. The technical session tackled interesting problems that are very interesting while relevant to DoorDash's core business. The interviewers are very engaging as I went through the process of solving the problem or presenting an idea, in the same way as one would expect in a real working scenario. The lunch session is relatively shorter but I got a chance to ask lots of questions and discuss interesting topics, through which I really felt the excitement from the interviewer. My experience with culture-fit session often feels a bit rigid as standard behavior questions are asked one after another. The one at DoorDash, however, covered lots of ground in a seamless fashion. After the last session, the same recruiter came to check with me on the overall experience and answered all my questions nicely.
In a couple of days, the recruiter emailed to schedule a call with me to go over feedback from the onsite interview. As the next step, a informational call was scheduled for me with the hiring manager in a few days. With the call I got answers to many questions about the company, the product and the team, making it much easier for me to make a decision. Furthermore, I was invited to visit the local office for in-person meeting with the manager for additional discussions, which is really valuable.
Overall, the interview process is very smooth and swift. The people I was talking to are very professional while being friendly. It is definitely one of the top ones that I have experienced.
