      Senior Quality Assurance Engineer Interview

      9 Aug 2025
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Emergent Software in Jul 2025

      Interview

Very straightforward interview process, which was incredibly nice to work through because it was so well-documented. Two online assessments through Test Gorilla, a take-home assignment regarding QA skills needed for web-based application work, an introductory interview with a recruiter, an interview with a QA manager with 30-40 technical based questions in a rapid fire format, then a final interview with a director and a higher level QA. I received my offer a few hours after my final interview by phone call. The team was very transparent through the whole process and communication was great. You could tell that the process was rigorous and thought out, in order to select the best candidates for the job.

Can you describe the agile process?

      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      Interview

I withdrew my application after learning that the offline assessment requires you to allow third-party software to hijack your webcam and take random photos without telling you when. That’s a ridiculous ask at any stage of hiring, but especially as the very first thing a candidate is told to accept. Anyone who values basic privacy would decline, if they felt like they had a choice. I’m happy to prove I can do the work. Give me a timed test, no problem. But I’m not letting some faceless vendor take stealth shots of me while I do it. If you're that worried about cheating, get on a Zoom, talk to people like humans, and do your vetting live. Companies won’t start treating candidates with basic dignity and respect until more of us start saying no to this kind of thing.

      Question 1

Let a third party hijack your webcam and secretly take photos of you.
