I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Boston, MA) in Jan 2013
Interview
First round was a phone interview consisting of mostly fit questions. There was also a stock pitch component. No real account knowledge needed.
Superday in Boston was 6 interviews back to back with people ranging from HR to Research Analyst to PM. Some basic case studies (not nearly as involved as consulting case studies), more stock pitches that were drilled more than in the phone interview, and more fit questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
If you had a business producing bottled water, how could you go about reducing costs?
Mainly behavior question + stock pitch, Brain teaser as well. several rounds including panel interview with Portfolio managers and analysts. Deep dive into valuation and financials. Need to prepare a decent stock pitch.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Fidelity Investments (Toronto, ON) in Jan 2024
Interview
Did a first round with HR. After the interview, I was told to be scheduled for the next round after working around PM’s schedule. Got ghosted and never heard back for a couple years.
The interview process was a panel review of an investment. Overall, I ended up getting the job, but I don't think they learned anything about my abilities to actually do the mundane job.
