      Powertrain Engineer Interview

      5 Mar 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Pontiac, MI
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Pontiac, MI) in Jan 2015

      Interview

Very behavorial type questions. Had two parts of the interview and each one was one on one. Not intimidating at all, just need to have experiences where the questions apply. Everything was paid for, the hotel, the travel. I got a tour of the factory too, it was great. The people were very friendly.

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Detroit, MI)

      Interview

Two days total. First day everyone arrived and followed by a networking dinner and welcome keynote speech. Second day were interviews and a jump start panel for entry level new hires. Interviews were broken up into two 1 hour interviews using classic behaviorial interview techniques. Very easy and relaxed atmosphere. After that portion we went on a tour of their facility in Warren. And that was that. They made decisions the same day and made an offer the following day. I've had interviews at a variety of companies from all over. No one was as fast with over 4 times the amount of interviewees to make decisions about.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Describe a time when you had to make a decision even though it was difficult.

I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at General Motors (GM) (Detroit, MI) in Feb 2016

      Interview

There were two interview rounds--one on campus and one at GM headquarters in Michigan. Both were composed of standard behavioral questions. The final round was different primarily in that the interviewers were people you could potentially work with. I just talked about my experiences carrying out class projects. I hit it off with the interviewers and generally enjoyed the process.
