I saw another Marketing Manager interview review on here and should've completely listened. It was awkward.
The interview had a screening round and three in-person interviews with the direct hiring manager, a director, and a VP. The VP was more interested in reasons I would leave a job rather than my skills, was very condescending and unfriendly, and didn't even leave me any time to ask questions. You'd possibly think that interviewers would go into a meeting with an open mind to learn about someone, but this guy had his mind made up from the start. His large sighs after all of my answers made that obvious.
Yes, you can answer all the questions correctly but if you're entrepreneurial and have your own ideas, this is the company where you'd have those motivations and ideas die. This company is looking for someone to be a cog in a wheel to produce numbers and nothing else. They emphasized long hours, strict and demanding deadlines, and the VP seemed like he was looking for someone to agree with him on just about everything.
The office itself is dead quiet. The recruiter, although friendly, was hesitant to approach all interviewers even if it was only showing up 1 minute earlier than the stated interview time. It's as if fear was a prevalent feeling in the office.
Lastly, I asked 'what does success look like in this role?' The only answer was to meet numbers. I mean, if that doesn't say anything, I don't know what does. But I mean, what else could I expect from a company's homogenous executive board, whose ideas are apparently refreshed by staying at the same institution for over 20 years?
In short, red flag and don't recommend it to anyone.
