Interviews at Gilsbar

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Covington, LA
I applied online. I interviewed at Gilsbar (Covington, LA) in Apr 2022
Very Quick. They just ask why you want to work there and pay requirements Unfortunately the pay is insulting. Interview is over as soon as it begins. I decided not to move past initial call.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gilsbar (Covington, LA) in Mar 2018
I was approached by a recruiter and right before the interview, he sprung on me this was a contract to hire position. Was not happy to learn that....
- Basic questions. Gilsbar is behind the times in technology and see the IT dept as a cost of doing business rather than an investment to the future of the company.

The interview was very insightful and helped to showed the team dynamics. However, it did not show the work load and fully explain expectations. What was also beneficial about the interview is that it was more than just with HR. It was a multi team interview.
- What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gilsbar in Aug 2017
Whole process took about two weeks. Applied online, next day invited to do hour long assessmemt. Nothing difficult, just long. A few days later, was called for phone interview and then invited for a face to face interview. Interviewed with two people back to back. Standard interview questions. Then the following week called with an offer.
- Describe a time where you worked really hard on a project and after completion, you were told it was all wrong.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Gilsbar (Covington, LA) in Jun 2017
Online assessment followed by phone interview and in person interview. They then sent me an email stating that they were not interested, but for a position that I didn't even apply for. No wonder they have 21 open positions right now. They apparently have a lot of turnover.
- What is your greatest weakness?

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gilsbar (Covington, LA) in Feb 2017
Very easy going, tough but reasonable questions. They were very laid back approach, this company is looking for people to shine! Very straight to the point, if your are liked there is a 2nd interview that will take place after your initial interview with the Human resource department.
- Describe yourself.

Phone Interview, The called to set up an appointment for a phone interview. The phone interview was changed once and then we shad the call. Interviewer was very nice, but it was a bad day for me and I was a bit distracted
- Talk about a project that you would change what you managed

I interviewed at Gilsbar
Very Unorganized. The interviewer was not at all interested in speaking with me from the beginning. She either already made up her mind or was very close to making a decision on a previous candidate. Pretty disrespectful I thought.
- A lot of "What would you do if" questions. It felt as if the lady was fishing for free consulting.

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gilsbar (Covington, LA) in Jul 2014
Applied online. Then was asked to complete a personality profile questionnaire (1+ hour). Nothing difficult, no right or wrong answers, just time intensive. Results were emailed immediately at completion. A day after completing the questionnaire, I was called in for an interview. I first met with the HR officer for about 30 minutes and she asked standard type interview questions. Then met with a couple of supervisors to discuss the job duties and expectations for another 30 minutes.
- Do you consider yourself detail-oriented or do you see the big picture?

Anonymous Employee
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gilsbar in Jan 2012
I had a single interview. The lady who interviewed me were very nice. She was pretty easy going during the interview. The personality of the interviewers are friendly. They ask question about your personality and job experience. Pretty typical interview. If interviewing for them, I would not stress over it too much.
- Give an example how you solved an argument in the work place.
