I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at GitHub
Difficult interview
Application
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at GitHub in Oct 2023
Interview
GitHub was thorough and well-coordinated. 1. Initial phone screen with a recruiter 2. Hiring manager 1:1 focused on product-specific scenarios and my background 3. Behavioral leadership principles that centered on GitHub's leadership principles and core values. 4. Presentation of a case study. "A new legislation passes in the United States requiring the use of real (legal) names on internet properties, instead of user handles. You have been asked to help GitHub and users of GitHub meet these requirements, and come up with a plan for executing this. How would you go about scoping the problem, developing a solution, and rolling it out to users?" 5. Rejection within two weeks.
The interview process was paused due to layoffs and hiring freezes. I completed the recruiting call & a 1st round interview. They have a standard process with a mix of behavioral, product design & strategy.
