I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Grainger (Lake Forest, IL)
Interview
Email contact first, then telephone interview. The interviewer made an immediate judgment regarding willingness to travel without asking my thoughts and explaining what it would include. The conversation abruptly ended. Sadly, I was not impressed, and as I had heard solid reviews of Grainger, it was a disappointing experience that I hope was only reflective of this one recruiter.

Question 1
Tell me about yourself. What do you know about Grainger?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Grainger in Apr 2009
Interview
Thorough phone interview. Interviewer was friendly and professional, from a screening company rather than in-house. She had a fairly good understanding of the position and its requirements. At the end she brought up salary requirements because my experience was broader and deeper than what they expected to find. We determined that I was probably over-qualified, but also that they might consider a higher-level position due to my qualifications. My salary requirements were about $25K more than their range high point. Ultimately they did not want to change the position grade to a higher one, and so I did not progress further in the interview process. Overall it was handled professionally.
