      Visual Merchandiser Interview

      6 Nov 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gucci in Oct 2019

      Interview

The recruiter requested a FaceTime interview. I agreed, and was ready and waiting on the day and at the time we set. Instead of calling at that time, she emailed me to reschedule another time. Once again I agreed, and we finally connected. Unfortunately she wasn't prepared for my interview, she was disheveled and even stated that she didn't have my resume in front of her. She was just off the cuff asking me questions, and as I was responding she was shuffling papers around her desk barely paying attention to my answers. I did the best that I could for the situation given, because when Gucci calls you answer. She mentioned after about an hour long interview, that they don't take people from the outside for their Visual Merchandising positions. I was regretful that I applied and took the interview not knowing this ahead of time. I took some risks to sneak around my current job, and also had to lie to be able to make the interview. Clearly it seems that I was selected to meet their applicant demographic quota. I have over 10 years experience in the Visual Merchandising industry, which includes high end designer goods. I have all the qualifications and skills, and could have been a great asset to the company. It's a shame that Gucci only hires from within, they're limiting themselves from great talent. Word to the wise, if you don't already work for Gucci in some capacity don't waste your time and energy applying.
