I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at H&M (Markham, ON) in Oct 2015
Interview
Applied online, got a phone interview call a couple days later (got woken up by the phone call) lady was sweet asked normal questions "do you have expiernce, what do you know about the company, etc". At the end of the call she told me to come to a interview in store 3 days later... Went into the local store and I swear I have never felt so uncomfortable. I'm a very confident person, but the way the employees working there treated each other was just rude. They were all so cold and bitter towards eachother and the minute I said I was there for an interview it was the same attitude towards me. No idea how the manager there become the mananger, very sweet lady but not at all manager material in my mind. She was not mature whatsoever. She asked a few simillar questions like the ones in the phone interview, some scenarios, etc. Offered me the job on the spot but in all honestly I couldn't see myself working in that store. No hate towards the company, H&M is a wonderful retailer, but that store wasn't something I would want to walk in every day too.
It's a group interview and in mine there were x4 other people. We introduced ourselves and got split into teams to complete a task on their values. Then we were split into different teams and were given a hypothetical customer who wanted help with their outfit - we had to create an outfit accordingly therefore roamed around the store to find clothing items that fit the brief. Afterwards, we explained why we chose those clothes and then were asked x2 competency-based questions.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to work at H&M? Tell me x3 things about yourself. What does fashion mean to you and what is your fashion style?
Engaging and interactive, having opportunity to engage with managers and customers at the same time. Actual sit down interviews were fairly brief/in groups with opportunity to shadow during business hours.
