Very easy, took less than 30 minutes and asked very simple questions to get a feel for your personality. It’s a very simple role so this is not that surprising.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hy-Vee (Des Moines, IA) in Aug 2013
Interview
I submitted an application on the HyVee website because I had a positive experience shopping from the Southridge Hyvee and felt that I needed a break from working in a very stressful environment and should work in a retail setting. I was contacted a few days later by the HR manager and set up an interview. I had a positive interview experience and received a job offer a few days later.

Not very difficult in my opinion. This is a checker position--they are just trying to understand basic values and decency. Which shouldn't be a problem as long as you have them.
No prep required, I would say.
Pretty easy interview. Just answered what the interviewer asked me. Got the job a week later. The interviewer was very nice, I had some nervous moments but I got over them after I got settled in
