      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Innocean in Jul 2024

      Interview

I interviewed for a freelance role supporting a large-scale digital project, and the process was thoughtful, efficient, and gave me a strong sense of the team and how they work. It started with a recruiter screening call. The recruiter was friendly, responsive, and clear about the scope of the project, expectations for the role, and how the freelance engagement would fit into the broader team. Communication throughout was timely and professional. The next step was a portfolio conversation with members of the UX team. This felt collaborative — I was able to walk through my work, discuss how I approach complex problems, and talk through examples of working within fast-moving environments. The team was engaged, practical, and clearly supportive of each other, which made it easy to imagine working with them. The hiring manager round with the UX Director focused more on how I think through real-world design challenges. It was a deeper discussion about decision-making at scale. The conversation was rigorous but positive, and it was clear the director is invested in both design quality, team and project success. Overall, the process felt well-structured for a freelance role — thorough enough to understand expectations, but also respectful of time. It left me with a strong impression of a thoughtful UX team doing meaningful, high-visibility work.
