      Risk Operations Interview

      2 Dec 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Instacart (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

I applied to the Associate role and never heard back after a phone screen and a take home test (Excel). Then I applied to the Senior Associate role. I went through another phone screen, another take home test (SQL), a hiring manager phone call, an onsite with the team and the hiring manager, and another separate onsite with the senior manager. During the first onsite, the hiring manager told me that this was a much better fit for my set of skills and what I was looking for in my next role. She also told me she was really excited, that I would get the job, and that she had not seen any other candidates answer her questions as well as I did. Still, I had to go in again to meet the senior manager who was out of town on the day of my onsite. Upon meeting the senior manager in my second onsite, I realized that the day to day of the role was significantly different (less technical and more customer focused) from what I was made to believe in my prior interviews. A week went by with no answer. I reached out to the recruiter who notified me that the hiring manager had recently decided to restructure the Risk Team. Though they really liked me, they wouldn't be moving forward with my candidacy because they were now looking for a more senior candidate for this particular role. I was not given any more information. Total waste of my time. Get it together Instacart.
