Average interview
Application
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Jane Street in Dec 2025
Interview
Lots of rounds, but they were very communicative, transparent about the process, and quick to schedule them at convenient times for me. First was an online simulated incident where I had to investigate and write a CEO briefing. I was told I passed that 3 days later, then had an initial phone screening, just making sure I understood/was okay with the unique company culture etc. and asking if I had any questions. Then had a 1-hour zoom call with another simulated security incident, a bit more involved this time but still only required basic bash commands. Was told I passed that 1 day later, and then did a 1-hour coding assessment the next week. Very simple coding problem, got to choose language of my choice, but I got nervous and fumbled the first part. Got rejected 3 days later. All interviewers were nice enough, very matter-of-fact, and considerate of my time.

Question 1
Coding question was: given a log, how can we track consecutive login attempts for one specific user? Then (part 2) what if we wanted to track them for all users?
