Difficult interview
Application
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Jane Street (Cambridge, Gloucestershire, South West England, England) in Nov 2017
Interview
The interview process so far was standard. Jane Street stands out as a company that does not impose a fixed application deadline. I was required to upload a personal statement and a CV. References are not required.
The second stage of the interview process was an automated online interview conducted via HackerRank.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
You are given a ten sided die (values 1-10) and you are allowed to roll it either once or twice. After the first dice roll you note the score and have to make a decision whether you want to try a second roll or not. In case you decided to roll a second time you add the values from both dices to get your final score. If your score is less than or equal to 13 you will receive the equivalent amount in pounds as a payout. However if your score exceeds 13 you won't receive a payout.
Find the optimal strategy and explain how you arrived at your answer.
Heard Jane Street has exciting internships for female students so I decided to apply. Filled out online application. Received a response for online assessment. The assessment was quite difficult for me. The interview was even harder. Lots of technical questions.

Asked to play a game and probability - the probability questions were easy, and the game had very little math. It was over an hour, closer to 1 hour 30 minutes. Over zoom
