      Software Engineer(Internship) Interview

      18 Sept 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Jane Street in Aug 2021

      Interview

      1) Applied online 2) Hour-long phone interview 3) Final round - 3 rounds of technical interviews, ~1-1.5 hours each Entire process took less than two weeks - I got my offer decision the afternoon of my final round. All of the questions were system design questions (write a class to ___), no LC-type questions anywhere in the process. All of the engineers were very friendly, and if there was anything I was initially stuck on I was able to talk through my thought process with them and eventually reach a solution. There was also a Q&A session with two SWEs after the last technical interview during the final round.

      Interview

Fast and efficient, everyone is friendly. The interview was fully techinical, no background or behavioral questions for me. The style is very collaborative — asking for hint in a proper way would be considered a plus I guess.

      Interview

First round was online, one round of 1hr class design questions. Given a class interface, you need to implement it with another given class interface. My question is like a general tree question. You kinda need to go far enough to get to next round, so if you're too slow or have trouble solving easier parts, you cannot make it. I didn't move on.
