The first stage is an attitude test conducted online. Recommend you take it seriously because while it isn't made explicitly clear beforehand, this automated process can end your job application.
They describe a situation and you choose the most and least applicable answers from a short list. The questions are based on an in-store, customer facing role as part of a large team - even if that does not match your job role or experience.
There seemed to be a bias towards less experienced applicants - a lot of the questions involved responses to not understanding job roles or tasks in a new job, or being overwhelmed by tasks at work - I last felt like that two decades ago.
The online interface updated to say I was rejected immediately after completing the questionnaire, and I received an email saying "Based on your online test scores, we are sorry to tell you that we will not be taking your application further on this occasion".
