Interview was one-on-one with the person who would be my supervisor. Asked very pointed questions as to what exactly in my past was applicable to the types of marketing programs Kaiser wanted to pursue. Had to speed up my answers, be extremely concise, no time for even a smile or a sense of gentle humour.
I was asked to wait almost an hour to meet with the interviewer, and then after 20 minutes, my interview was ended. Being rushed and cut-off mid-sentence as I attempted to respond to a direct query was quite frustrating. I had the ideal background, experience and qualifications, so I was really surprised to be treated like this. I even had a reference from someone who worked at Kaiser. Definitely had the sense this was strictly something that they had to do; there was no desire to interview any outsiders. I felt an internal candidate had already been selected, and the interviewing of outside applicants was merely a formality.
That being said, I would really emphasize that this is just one experience, with one person, on one day. This could be a complete anomaly, I can't imagine this is the SOP for Kaiser. However, my best friend -who is a rock star candidate - received the same treatment. You will simply have to go in very well prepared and if you aren't offered a second interview, chalk it up to….. sometimes Kaiser Is strange.
