I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kin Insurance in Sept 2021
Interview
The recruiter phone screen and hiring manager interview were great, and consisted of pretty standard behavioral questions. The code challenge, however, was a different story. It was suggested that the challenge be completed within 72 hours, and that I should try to spend no more than 2 hours working on it. Again, pretty standard stuff. The actual challenge was clearly intended for a backend engineer, and the project boilerplate was even written in Ruby. The challenge itself consisted of algorithms and data structures, and did not test for any front-end skills. It’s clear that Kin does not know how to interview and evaluate front-end engineers.
