      C++ Developer Interview

      1 May 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Berlin
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

      I applied in-person. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at King (Berlin) in Feb 2021

      Interview

      Hiring process is to much complicated. It takes about 1 month or may be more. HR is totally fine they are super nice. First technical interview was totally fine. Un logical task to do Match3 game, i did it with a very good optimization. Then when you discuss the task you found un qualified technical lead, He was a little bit angry and not even looking to me. Simply if you want to pass the code test don’t do it in good way :) Also if you passed the Test and the code you may fail in Culture Fit 😀😀😀 so don’t waste your time or ask them to confirm all HR steps and Culture Fit before waste your time in the Technical Test. The team leads there will not hire you if you have a very good technical skills😂😂😂 I think it will be much better to apply through recruiter 😉

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      Application

      I applied through an employee referral. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at King (Berlin) in Jan 2022

      Interview

      The entire process took about 8 weeks, with several steps all done remotely over zoom: -A recruiter call who gives you an overview on the entire interview process, and all the different steps -A behavioral/technical interview with a tech lead to discuss about technologies you've used, how you handle team communication, and some basic C++ questions (mainly regarding modern C++ concepts) -A take home test related to game programming -A live code review to talk about your test submission with senior developers -A "values" interview with someone adjacent to your domain for a culture fit -A meeting with the hiring manager to talk about the scope of your responsibilities At the end of each interview, you had around 10 to 15 minutes to ask the interviewers anything. The total interview time was around 1 hour per interview. During each step I felt like the interviewers were well prepared, and they did their best to make you feel accommodated and keep a relaxed vibe. Between interviews, my recruiter contact was always quick to respond to my questions and kept me in the loop the entire time. I was told the last couple of steps were done in person before covid, so maybe they will change back to this at some point, which would shorten the process.

      C++ Developer Interview

      20 May 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Berlin
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at King (Berlin)

      Interview

      I applied online, and was contacted by a recruiter a few days later. The interview process consisted of 1 phone interview with a recruiter and 4 face-to-face interviews with 5 different people, plus a "coding challenge". Interviews took place in different days, so I had to visit King's Berlin office on 4 different workdays throughout 4 weeks at the middle of working days. All interviews were behavioral, or semi-technical. 1) The first interview was with two Engineering Managers. 2) Recruiting then send me the coding assignment. 3) The second interview was a code review of the coding assignment with a Principal Engineer. 4) The third interview was with a UI/UX Designer. 5) The fourth interview was with a Technical Director of the studio. I finished the process with the impression that basic expectations such as: i) having growth opportunities, ii) being rewarded based on merit, iii) working in interesting tasks, and iv) having responsibilities proportionals to skills and contribution, are unreasonable and unwanted from applicants to the role and to the company.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

      Technical: -What do you consider clean C++ code? -What are your favorite C++-11 features? -Mention as many ways as you can in which a C++ program might crash as soon as it is executed. Homework (coding challenge): The homework is basically writing a simple match-3 game, starting out with a 2d engine with capabilities for rendering sprites and capturing some mouse events, that is provided along with the homework. You are given 7 days to deliver it. Behavioral: -Cultural fit and questions matching the values of the company. -What are your expectations on the position? -Tell me about your current workplace.
