      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Lucid Software in Nov 2019

      Interview

Lucid Software had visited Oregon State University during the Fall career fair (October 23rd). I connected with Mr. Matt Dawson during the career fair and he found my background work experience good enough. I had a 20-minute interview with him on campus where he asked me about the most challenging situations which I've faced so far in my work experience and how I tackled those. There he told me that I would then be receiving a programming challenge. I immediately got a HackerRank programming challenge from them which was supposed to be completed within 10 days after opening the challenge. It was highly recommended to finish the coding within 1-2 hours though. The difficulty level for the problem was good enough. I finished the challenge and within just two days, I heard from them for the next phone-screen interview. For this round, they had asked me about my preferred programming language. They had Java code ready with them which had some functions expected to be completed by me. The first two tasks were very easy, the third one was a game to be completed. The interviewer explained the game and I was supposed to program for it in the already existing skeleton. I was given one hour to finish all 3 tasks. It was not an interactive round. The interviewer simply guided me through code and asked me to work on my own for an hour. After one hour, I showed him what I had done and he asked me to send the code to him so that they would take further decisions. All the while, my screen was shared with the interviewer and the camera was on. The use of stack overflow and the internet was discouraged. Within two days, I got a rejection email from them. I was willing to clear the rounds but I couldn't make it. (P.S. I learned the algorithm for solving a pyramorphix as I got it from them.)
