Very bad interview experience. The interviewer is an Indian with a strong accent, poor attitude and tricky questions. Moreover, he changed the interview time many times, and the background was not clear.
first round is phone call, second round is technical interview, it is not that hard, because it is for junior level. it is leetcode easy style.interview, it is not that hard, because it is for junior level. it is leetcode easy style.interview, and it also has questions for sql, but it is not hard either.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Manulife (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2022
Interview
The worst interview experience I ever had. The recruiter is unprofessional and disrespectful, I withdraw my application after the first interview.
Applied online in the summer of 2022, and interviewed a few weeks later. Start with the standard self-introduction and a few questions related to the company and role, like why do you interested in the company, and how much you know about it. Things got worse after the recruiter ask about my expected salary. With the number I give, his response is "Do you think your experience qualified for that amount?", yes this is exactly the word from the recruiter, without diving deep into my skills and past experience, and it is the most unprofessional and rude responsible I ever had.
Followed by that, all the questions are related to how many years of experience in different tech stacks. Overall, my feeling is that they just want to hire someone who used the tools and can jump into the work immediately and care nothing about the employee's skill and potential and how far or successful the employee would be in the future.
Finally, the recruiter told me that they can only offer 80% of the amount I am expecting, which is almost the same as the salary my current company offers, even though the job posting says they offer a competitive salary. In fact, I am posting it now because I actually got and accepted an offer from one of the top 10 largest Tech companies with total compensation that is 50% more than the amount I asked for in my interview with Manulife.
