I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Meta in Sept 2020
Interview
Contacted by FB recruiter, then portfolio presentation, app critique. Pretty standard process. Preparing was a bit of time consuming. The entire process took about 2 weeks. Met with total 3 or 4 designers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
At the end of my presentation, one of the designers asked me if my projects were implemented and shipped. I was rather surprised by this question as one of the requirements was that my presentation should include projects that were shipped. During the presentation, I even highlighted revenues and user feedback. Obviously, the design was not paying attention to my presentation.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Meta (São Paulo, São Paulo) in Sept 2021
Interview
Abordado no Linkedin por um designer, depois alguns emails de recrutadores. Seis entrevistas bem espaçadas, com varias pessoas do time. Aprovado no final, mas proposta recusada por desconforto com o alinhamento entre pessoas do time.

Question 1
Como você estruturou as conversas entre outras áreas e design?
Was reached out by a recruiter. I applied and interviewed at FB over two years ago and had the stupid 1 year ban rule after not passing. She wanted to get me into a role quickly and go through the process again. Spoke with two people.
First round was a random designer who was the rudest person I ever met. I’d explain about my process walking them through slides and give them explanations of how when and why. Then they’d repeat and ask me about why I made the decision I did in my designs, when I just explained it to them. They did this a bunch of times through the interview. Extremely disconnected and showed zero interest.
2nd interview which was an app critique, again- did not give me any direction on what to do besides just talk. They had no structure to what they were looking for and it was very open ended. Not really helpful if I can’t talk to something from a problem perspective.
Recruiter calls me to tell me they decided to pass. Was so p/o that I wasted my time when I didn’t get a polite cursory from the other interviewers. Recruiter told me my visual designs weren’t strong. I explained in my portfolio review that visuals were done by another team and I had no control over why they made the decision they did, was pulling from a design system created by another team. Recruiter said wait 6 months to discuss and talk again and I’m like no-thank you. I’m in final interview stages with Google and they have the decency to actually try to get me to work there and work every avenue to make sure I have a great candidate experience. This interview experience sucked. Gladly would turn meta down and go work at Google instead- at least one company finds me valuable and actually has a structured interview process.
