I applied through university. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Microchip Technology (Bengaluru) in Sept 2022
Interview
The online test was conducted to shortlist couple of students who further had to proceed to a couple of technical rounds and then HR round. Each round is elimination round.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
1st technical round:
Cmos "and" gate draw and explain
If i interchange all nmos with pmos and vice versa in the following and gate. What functionality will i obtain(ignore the logic reduction)
Verilog code for dflipflop
Sensitivity list
Asynchronous vs synchronous reset
Why is setup time usually larger than hold time?
Setup and hold time violations. Which is more dangerous (harder to fix)
What is metastability?
Explain D Flipflop using transmission gate and using d latch
Go-to vs call instruction
Explain Interrupt Service routine
Microprocessor vs microcontrollers based on performance metrics
2nd technical round:
project discussion
4:1MUX using 2:1MUX
Xor using 2:1MUX
Applications of xor functionality in communication systems
Any microcontroller you know that uses MUX and explain how it uses and for what it uses
Demux application
Explain ring counter and johnson counter
Priority encoder explain
Verilog code for t flipflop with reset
Setup time hold time explain. And what steps would you take to overcome violations
What affects frequency of clock? setup time or hold time?
Bulb with 2 switches. toggling one switch will change state of bulb irrespective of present state of the other switch. Which logic gate would u visualize this
I applied online. I interviewed at Microchip Technology in Dec 2025
Interview
There were two rounds of tech interviews. The panels were good to me and corrected me at times if I said anything wrong. Surprisingly my second went very well compared to first. Still I think I did not make it since there's nothing from the HR after that.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked me about my projects. Microcontrollers in depth, embedded C, basic analog concepts.
I interviewed at Microchip Technology (Burnaby, BC)
Interview
Basically an resume review. They asked me to talk about the projects on the resume. Also they took a look at my transcript and asked about some of the courses and what my favorite was.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Experience with digital logic projects like adders, clocks, MUX
Screening Round of 30 mins with hiring manager.
Five panel rounds each one hour based on RTL Verilog, Simulation, Debugging, Static Timing Analysis, CDC, Communication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI.
